Students of business informatics at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität (WWU) Münster have developed a file management app for Windows 8 and all common mobile platforms in a project seminar ("Cloud Services for Students"). The goals of this project seminar were the conception, development and implementation of a cloud prototype for internal university use by students and lecturers. The app is now also available in the Windows Store .
Permanent access to digital files is becoming increasingly important. Cloud services provide a suitable solution for this. What is difficult about this is that the use of storage solutions external to the university is often not permitted for teaching staff, as this does not comply with data protection guidelines. fileee, whose developers were also supervised by Prof. Dr. Stieglitz, also served as inspiration for the project. In addition, fileee provided the text recognition software for the app. With "text recognition of tomorrow already today", fileee was praised for this. Of course we are happy about this, because we can now give back some of the support we have always received from the university! Partners of this project were and are Microsoft Deutschland GmbH, the Centre for Information Processing at WWU Münster and the Career Service of WWU Münster The Career Service supports students in making their studies career-oriented, in gaining practical experience and in making professional contacts.
