A little surprisingly, we received the news on Thursday that our competitor organize.me is discontinuing its service as of 29.02.2016:
"On 29 February 2016, the organise.me service will be discontinued. The associated apps for iOS, Android and Windows Phone will also cease to function then. All user data and files will be completely and irrevocably deleted on the above-mentioned date."(Source: www.organize.me)
Despite the competitive situation, it is a great pity that the service is being discontinued. The organize.me team has invested a lot of time and work in an idea that also drives us - the simplification of paperwork. The end of organize.me also affects us in the sense that it naturally raises doubts about the durability of digital document management, which we want to get out of the way as quickly as possible.
To start with: fileee is doing well and we are still determined to make our dream come true. To this end, we are working with a larger partner and investor who has long-term plans for fileee and with whom we will continue to develop new business areas in the future. A sudden end to our service, as with doo or now organise.me, is therefore very unlikely.
Also in terms of a clear positioning for digital document management and other cloud-based solutions, we want to offer all organize.me users an easy switch to fileee. For this purpose, we are building an import option that also includes the import of metadata (sender, amounts, etc.). As an organize.me user, you will then be able to easily import your document archive including the XML metadata set to fileee in the next 2 weeks.
Since organize.me will be discontinued on 29 February, we will of course hurry. Until then, it is advisable for organise.me users who want to switch to wait a little longer before uploading their existing documents in order to keep the possible effort and manual editing of meta information to a minimum. Of course, we cannot completely take over all metadata, since different systems and partly different logics are involved in the naming. Of course, you can start uploading and archiving new documents at any time;-) We will provide step-by-step instructions for the import function in various places as soon as the function is available.
