The headline made big waves last week: Million-dollar exit: German cloud data start-up doctape goes to Atlassian. Congratulations to the doctape team in Hanover from our side as well. The consequence of the sale is that the existing services and apps will be discontinued on 25 November and new registrations and premium upgrades will no longer be possible.
The reactions were mixed. On the one hand, people do not begrudge doctape its success, but on the other hand, users are confronted with the problem of "Where to put my data? Many users express general criticism of the closed formats, which make it even more difficult to move data from one cloud service to another, as meta-information, such as tags, are lost.
We therefore want to approach all doctape users who want to continue archiving their documents in the cloud and offer a direct import to fileee for this purpose. We are a German start-up and offer our free service fileee as a digital filing cabinet to archive and manage all digital and analogue documents such as invoices, contracts, sales slips, etc. The import would only be effective for these documents. The import can therefore only be used effectively for this data. You can find a detailed overview of fileee's functions on our features page. The direct import of data from doctape to fileee would include the following file formats and features:
Since our resources are also limited, we need to know whether the work is worthwhile. That is why we are asking you whether there is any interest and need at all for an import option to fileee. We have set up a small poll for this purpose.
In order to reach as many doctape users as possible, we would be happy if you would help to spread the info about the direct import and the poll in the world out there.
If you have any questions or comments, you can also reach us at support@fileee.com.
