Every year, the tax return is due. For the 2020 tax return, Corona has shifted the deadline. Here we explain how the deadlines have changed and how fileee can help you with your tax return.

When must the tax return for 2020 be submitted?

If you prepare your tax return yourself, it is due on 31 October 2021. Corona has extended the deadline for filing the 2020 tax return by 3 months. So there is still a little time left. Even more! Since 31 October 2021 is not a working day, the deadline is postponed to Monday, 1 November 2021. In federal states where 1 November is a public holiday, it is even 2 November 2021. If you do not prepare the tax return yourself, i.e. have it done by a tax advisor, the deadline is even later. In these cases, the tax return must be submitted to the competent tax office by 31.05.2022. (Source: Federal Ministry of Finance)

It may be worthwhile to file a tax return. You could get 1051€ back. According to current evaluations by the Federal Statistical Office, tax refunds in 2017 averaged €1051. So get to work on the documents!

How does fileee help me with my tax return?

fileee's role in the tax return: fileee cannot replace a programme such as ELSTER or services such as tax consultants and income tax associations. fileee can, however, help you to store your documents in such a way that you can find them quickly and easily!

With the help of the fileeeBox , you can scan all paper documents and find them again in seconds. It makes sense to tag all documents that could be important for your tax return with a suitable tag beforehand, such as "Tax 2020". This way you don't have to buy an extra fileeeBox just for your tax return, but can use it for all documents. We have explained how to optimally use tags and fileee Spaces in our help centre .

If you prepare your tax return now, you can display all relevant documents during the day. You also have the option of marking them and then forwarding them digitally to your tax advisor. If you need an original, simply click on the document and have its position displayed in the box. This saves you the hassle of searching and you can really deduct all expenses for tax purposes!
